\n\tShortly after the Associated Press<\/a> reported the death of former FBI director Robert Mueller, President Donald Trump<\/a> took to Truth Social to celebrate his passing.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cRobert Mueller just died,\u201d Trump wrote<\/a>. \u201cGood, I\u2019m glad he\u2019s dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people! President DONALD J. TRUMP.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMueller\u2019s family confirmed his death in a statement to AP on Saturday, writing, \u201cWith deep sadness, we are sharing the news that Bob passed away. His family asks that their privacy be respected.\u201d Mueller was 81 years old.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a 2025 sitdown with the New York Times, Mueller\u2019s family revealed that he was diagnosed with Parkinson\u2019s disease in 2021 and was experiencing issues with speaking and mobility.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBob was diagnosed with Parkinson\u2019s disease in the summer of 2021,\u201d his family said<\/a>. \u201cHe retired from the practice of law at the end of that year. He taught at his law school alma mater during the fall of both 2021 and 2022, and he retired at the end of 2022.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tTrump\u2019s clash with Mueller began in 2017, when Mueller was appointed as special counsel for the Justice Department\u2019s investigation into Russian interference in Trump\u2019s 2016 presidential campaign. The probe lasted until March of 2019, when Mueller concluded that there wasn\u2019t sufficient evidence to prove that the Trump campaign colluded with the Russian government to sway the election.<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter he was nominated by President George W. Bush, Mueller began his 12-year career as FBI director just one week before the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Born in Manhattan in 1944, Mueller graduated from Princeton and earned a master\u2019s degree in international relations from New York University. He then joined the Marines and served three years in Vietnam. During his service, he was awarded a Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n
