By settling with Dominion, influential Fox News executives and prominent on-air personalities will be\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/03\/28\/media\/fox-dominion-filing\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spared from testifying<\/a>\u00a0about their 2020 election coverage, which was filled with lies about voter fraud.\u00a0\u00a0\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/paragraph-76f2efff15011f194ab7961c3487691f@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Details of the settlement\u00a0were not immediately available and might never become public.\u00a0\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/paragraph-8e5cffc722df0ded8034861f044cb825@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            <strong>More on the case:<\/strong> In its lawsuit, Dominion sought $1.6 billion in damages from Fox News. The right-wing network argued vociferously in pretrial proceedings that this number was inflated and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/03\/22\/media\/fox-news-dominion-wednesday\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">didn\u2019t come close<\/a>\u00a0to accurately capturing the potential losses that Dominion could have suffered as a result of Fox\u2019s 2020 broadcasts.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/paragraph-beb23a61150a6e5f6b2f3f5353f6af26@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Fox News and Fox Corporation \u2014 its parent company, which was also a defendant \u2014 say they never defamed Dominion, and say the case is a meritless assault on press freedoms. They denied Dominion\u2019s claim that they promoted these election conspiracies to save their falling ratings after the 2020 election.\u00a0\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/paragraph-5172633f2c00250c0e2b20620411b1ed@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            While the Dominion case is now over, Fox News is still facing a second\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/12\/14\/media\/smartmatic-fox-news-newsmax-oan\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">major defamation lawsuit<\/a>\u00a0from Smartmatic, another voting technology company that was smeared on Fox shows after the 2020 election.
