What’s new in the Samsung Galaxy Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra?
Samsung’s foldable line will not only receive a new generation this year, but will also introduce a completely new product. The Fold 8 and new Fold 8 Ultra feature expected updates, like screen brightness and battery life, as well as bigger changes, like a new form factor.
New features in both folds
- Thinner than ever: The brand’s new titanium-based structure keeps its foldables as stylish as possible without sacrificing durability.
- New videography features: Dual recording captures both the subject in front of the phone and the user behind them, making reaction camera filming an easy, integrated experience. My FanCam allows you to select a trackable topic, automatically reframe and optimize videos for immediate publication, without editing.
- Galaxy AI Integrations: Now Brief, Now Nudge, and Gemini Intelligence make staying up to date, responding, and completing tasks seamless.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8
- New display proportions: Optimized for the average content browser, the redesigned Fold features a passport-like form factor to make it easier to open and close in your hand. Folded, the 10:16 cover screen is a familiar size for scrolling through social media and messaging, while the expanded 4:3 screen is ideal for gaming and video streaming.
- A camera for casual use: Instead of the powerful three-lens design of the previous generation, the new Z Fold 8 keeps its price low with a lower quality but fully capable camera. Designed for everyday photography, it features two 50MP lenses on the back and one 10MP lens on the cover and main screen.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra
- Professional camera quality: On the back, the Ultra features a 50MP ultra-wide-angle, 200MP wide-angle, and 10MP telephoto lens. These, in addition to powerful integrated Nightography and 8K video recording, offer higher quality images than previous generations.
- Bigger battery, faster charging: Now with a 5,000 mAh battery and a new charging architecture with support for 45W fast charging, the Fold 8 Ultra will not only last longer, it will also charge faster. Its new graphite cooling is also designed to prevent the device from overheating.
Colors of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra
As is traditional with new Samsung releases, each device comes in a set of colors to choose from, including one exclusive to the brand’s site. For the Galaxy Z Fold 8, you can choose between:
- Lavender
- Cream
- Graphite
- Pistachio (exclusive)
Instead, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra comes in the following colors:
- violet shadow
- Cream
- Graphite
- green shadow
When will the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra be released?
Although both devices are already on sale, they won’t be officially released to buyers until August 7 at the earliest. If you’re hoping to be one of the first owners of the Z Fold 8 Ultra, I recommend pre-ordering soon as shipping dates may be pushed back as stock runs out.
