We saw Australia’s men win bronze in the team gymnastics final on day one, and on day two it’s the women’s turn to compete for a medal in the same event.

In the men’s event, the countries were divided into three groups and Australia was in the third and final group to compete. But in the women’s event, where group three is underway, there are a total of four groups. Australia is in group four and will reach the devices in a couple of hours.

There is another difference to note: the men compete on six different apparatus, where four athletes from each country compete on each, and the top three scores count towards the team total.

But in the women’s competition there are only four apparatus: vault, floor, beam and uneven bars. Each country places at least two athletes on each apparatus. They may include a third athlete, but only the first two scores will count.

Team Australia will be led by eight-time Commonwealth medalist Georgia Godwin, who returned from a serious injury to compete.
