If you’ve shopped for cell service in recent years, you’ve probably heard of Straight Talk. The Verizon-owned MVNO uses Verizon’s nationwide network to provide its customers with connectivity for data, calls, text, hotspot, and more. To make shopping simpler, I’ve broken down Straight Talk plans and prices below.

The carrier offers a simple lineup of prepaid phone plans that range from affordable limited-data options to premium unlimited plans with perks such as mobile hotspot data, international calling, and a Walmart Plus membership. With no annual contracts and Verizon support, Straight Talk remains a popular option for budget-conscious shoppers looking for flexible wireless service.

Current Straight Talk prices start at $35 a month for the Bronze 10GB plan and go up to $65 a month for the Platinum Unlimited plan. Along the way, you’ll find several unlimited plans with varying hotspot allowances, cloud storage, and travel benefits, making it easier to choose a plan that fits your budget and data needs. Below, I’ve broken down each Straight Talk plan, its monthly price, and the key features you get with your subscription.

Straight Talk phone plans and prices

Straight Talk offers four plans, starting at $35 a month for limited high-speed data and basic coverage. Higher tiers are more enticing for travelers and frequent data users, because in exchange for a higher monthly price, service includes hot spot data, cloud storage, international calling, and more.

*New customers can get a discount for their first three months by signing up with Auto Pay.

Straight Talk’s Bronze plan costs $35 a month and is designed for basic use. It includes unlimited talk and text, 10GB of high-speed data, and access to Verizon’s nationwide 5G network on compatible devices. After you use your 10GB of premium data, speeds are reduced to 2G for the rest of your billing cycle. The plan also includes international calling and texting to Canada and Mexico, making it a solid option if you don’t stream or browse heavily.

The Silver Unlimited plan is Straight Talk’s entry-level unlimited option at $45 a month. It comes with unlimited talk, text, and data, plus 10GB of mobile hotspot data to connect other devices when you’re away from WiFi. Subscribers also get 5G access where available and unlimited calling and texting to Canada and Mexico. For many shoppers, this plan strikes a worthwhile balance between affordability and features, especially if you want unlimited data without paying for premium extras.

Priced at $55 a month, the Gold Unlimited plan adds several premium benefits beyond unlimited talk, text, and data. It increases your mobile hotspot allowance to 30GB, includes 100GB of cloud storage, and provides faster premium data than the Silver plan. Gold subscribers also receive a Walmart Plus membership (worth $13 a month), which includes perks like free shipping, fuel savings, and access to Paramount Plus. If you regularly use hotspot data or shop at Walmart, the added benefits can make the higher monthly price worthwhile.

Straight Talk’s Platinum Unlimited plan is the carrier’s most feature-rich option at $65 a month. Along with unlimited talk, text, and data, it includes unlimited mobile hotspot, 500GB of cloud storage, and a Walmart Plus membership. International features are also expanded, with unlimited calling to more than 200 destinations, unlimited international texting, and roaming in Canada and Mexico, including talk, text, and data allowances. Platinum is best suited for frequent travelers, remote workers, or anyone who relies heavily on hotspot data and wants Straight Talk’s most comprehensive prepaid plan.

How to get a Straight Talk refill

Straight Talk is a bit unlike other MVNOs in that you can purchase “refills” in person at Walmart. The physical cards are equivalent to paying for another month of online service, much like your typical streaming subscription or gym membership. It’s a contract-free format that’s especially friendly to shoppers in need of short-term coverage or flexible payment options. Here’s how to go about refilling your Straight Talk account for another month of service.

Physical purchase instructions

  1. Select a Straight Talk plan and purchase a physical card in your local Walmart.
  2. After purchase, scratch off the silver foil on the back of your card to reveal a unique PIN.
  3. Visit the Straight Talk refill page to enter your PIN and redeem the funds in your account.

Online purchase instructions

  1. Select a prepaid Straight Talk plan at Walmart in the tier and time length of your choice.
  2. Select to top up your existing account by adding your phone number at the product page, OR choose e-PIN top-up to start a new plan or give one as a gift.
  3. Visit the Straight Talk refill page to enter the PIN you received via email and add the funds to your account.

One month of Straight Talk unlocks 30 days of coverage for your account. Keep that in mind as you plan your prepaid purchases to avoid any unexpected service gaps.

If you’re comfortable with online shopping, you might instead want to consider signing up for Straight Talk with Auto Pay via the Straight Talk website. Doing so not only eliminates the need to worry about monthly refills but also unlocks potential discounts for newcomers.

How to get Walmart Plus with Straight Talk

One of the sweetest perks to signing up with Straight Talk is the Walmart Plus membership included with Gold and Platinum plans. That’s $13 in monthly savings, effectively covering most of the price gap between the premium tiers and a basic Bronze plan.

Getting started is simple. Here’s how to get Walmart Plus with your new Straight Talk plan:

  1. Sign up for Straight Talk with a Gold or Platinum Unlimited plan.
  2. Use the account activation link sent to your email after completing sign-up.
  3. Activate your Walmart Plus membership by signing up for an online Walmart account and selecting your benefits.

As a longtime Walmart Plus member, I love to preach the subscription’s perks. For a homebody like myself, free grocery delivery is a priceless time- and gas-saving feature that I take advantage of every week. It’s only one of the many benefits you can score, a few of which include:

  • Paramount Plus or Peacock ad-supported service
  • Free grocery delivery and free next-day and two-day shipping
  • Gas savings at select stations
  • Free returns from home

More niche perks I didn’t list include pharmacy, pet, and travel features that add even more value to a Walmart Plus membership. Having the subscription added to Straight Talk substantially increases the value, especially if you’re physically close to the store.

Even though it’s already a budget-friendly and flexible cell service option, Straight Talk does offer deals and perks if you sign up under the right conditions. Here’s what’s available now.
