At $14.99 a month for ad-free service, Apple TV ranks among some of the best streaming services we’ve evaluated, even after the recent price hike. Just like other major competitors, it’s available to watch on just about any platform, including streaming devices like Roku, web browsers, iPhones, and iPads.
The service is home to hours of award-winning content and irresistible originals, including “Ted Lasso,” “The Morning Show,” “Severance,” and “Bad Sisters.” On Fridays during the MLB baseball season, fans can watch two live games each week, in addition to highlights. And now, subscribers can also catch all MLS matches and Formula 1 races.
How much is Apple TV?
Apple TV, formerly Apple TV Plus, costs $14.99 a month after a seven-day free trial in the US. Subscriptions are also available for $119 a year. The service has just one tier, which is ad-free.
Monthly subscription prices increased from $12.99 a month or $99 a year following an Apple TV price hike in August 2026. Previously, monthly subscription prices increased from $9.99 a month in August 2025, the first price hike since 2023, and the third overall increase since first launching in 2019.
If you buy a new iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Apple TV, or Mac computer, you automatically get three months of the service for free as long as you redeem the offer within 90 days of setting up your device.
Apple TV is available around the world, spanning more than 100 countries. In the UK, the service costs £9.99 a month. In Canada, the streamer goes for CA$14.99 a month. Australian plans cost AU$15.99 a month.
What happened to the MLS Season Pass?
Back when it was still Apple TV Plus, the streaming platform offered coverage of every MLS match through its MLS Season Pass. The MLS Season Pass was available as an add-on to current Apple TV subscribers (for around $12.99 a month or a flat season fee) or a stand-alone option to non-subscribers (for around $14.99 a month or a flat season fee).
Beginning with the 2026 MLS season, Apple TV got rid of the MLS Season Pass. Now, all matches are included in standard $14.99 a month Apple TV subscriptions at no extra cost. It’s the same coverage, without any additional fees.
Does MLB or Formula 1 on Apple TV cost extra?
The two weekly MLB games that live stream on Apple TV don’t cost anything extra, so they’re included in all subscriptions. The “Friday Night Baseball” games are exclusive to Apple, so you’ll need a subscription to watch them. All Formula 1 races are now exclusively available through Apple TV (beginning with the 2026 season) in the US. These events are also included in standard subscriptions at no extra cost.
How much is Apple One?
Apple One is a bundle option that combines up to six Apple subscriptions (including Apple TV, Apple Music, and iCloud Plus) under one price, which is cheaper than subscribing to everything separately. Individual Apple One plans start at $21.95 a month, while Family and Premier plans cost $25.95 a month and $37.95 a month, respectively.
What you get in an Apple TV subscription
Apple TV (Monthly Plan)
Apple TV may have a limited lineup compared to the more established services, but it’s less expensive than other ad-free services and offers a growing selection of critically acclaimed series you can’t stream anywhere else. The service also carries select movies and live sports, including MLS matches and Formula 1 races
Apple TV is ad-free, and all content is available for streaming on demand or can be downloaded locally so you can watch it offline if you know you’ll be somewhere without internet access.
Apple’s streaming service is affordable because it has no major back catalog. The streaming platform has begun to occasionally license external movies for short periods of time, but for the most part, Apple TV is exclusively original content when it comes to the service’s on-demand offerings.
