Hadley is being shown a document that appears to record his text messages to complainant “C” in October 2019.

The court hears that there is some faint writing at the top of the document of an apparent exchange between the men, in which Hadley said, “… and Jones outed as … [gay slur].”

“It’s the case, isn’t it, that you did use those words,” Gabrielle Bashir, SC, said.

“It appears to be the case, yes,” Hadley said. But he added that “I don’t usually use that word”.

“It’s a very strong word, isn’t it?” Bashir said. “It is indeed,” Hadley replied.

Asked if he harboured animosity towards Jones at this time, he said that he “wasn’t happy with him” and “probably, yes”.

The court heard the document was supplied under a subpoena issued to “C” for text messages between him and Hadley.
