Australia Test batsman Nathan McSweeney has signed a new contract to play for Northamptonshire in the 2027 season.
The 27-year-old, who played three Test matches for Australia, scored three county championship centuries in his first year with Northants and is the county’s leading run-scorer this summer with 589 runs at an average of just under 50.
McSweeney, who will also captain Northamptonshire in this summer’s One-Day Cup, has been a big part of their T20 Blast campaign, hitting an unbeaten 72 in Wednesday’s eight-wicket win at Gloucestershire with the Steelbacks topping the Central and West Group.
