Zara Larsson left her home of more than a decade at Epic Records and signed with RCA Records. Variety I can confirm.
Two sources tell Variety that the pop star has signed a new contract with RCA. Sources say Larsson was considering offers from several labels, but that Sony, which houses subsidiaries Epic and RCA, wanted to keep her on the roster, so they struck a deal for her to be on RCA.
Representatives for Epic and RCA did not respond to multiple attempts for comment or confirmation.
Larsson has called Epic home for more than a decade, signing with the label in 2013 and releasing her international hit album “So Good” in 2017. Over the years, she kept the label for her 2021 album “Poster Girl” and its follow-up “Venus” in 2024, although it failed to make a significant impact on the charts.
But the long game paid off last year, when “Midnight Sun,” her fifth album, sparked an unexpected boost for Larsson, who scored several viral hits, including the project’s title track, her 2015 single “Lush Life” and “Stateside,” her collaboration with PinkPantheress.
As her singles began to trickle into the charts, Larsson toured the world on her “Midnight Sun” tour, and demand increased to the point that several show venues in Australia were upgraded to accommodate the growing interest. Larsson, who is currently on tour through early November, managed to find time to record and release the remix album “Midnight Sun: Girls Trip” in early May, featuring guest appearances from Shakira, Kehlani, Tyla, Robyn and many more.
HitsDailyDouble was the first to report on Larsson’s signing to RCA.
