Lancashire captain Keaton Jennings says inconsistency is to blame for their results in this year’s T20 Blast.
With two games left in the group stage, Lancashire are third in the North Group after a dramatic draw with Derbyshire on Monday night.
But their hopes of reaching the last 16 for the ninth consecutive season hang by a thread, having won just four of their 10 games.
“It’s been inconsistent at best,” Jennings told BBC Radio Lancashire of his team’s form.
“When you look at the three phases (bat, ball and fielding), I don’t think we’ve been at our best.
“We have not been able to put together 240 balls of good, competitive cricket on a consistent basis.
“We haven’t been able to nail down the whole game and close it out in the old-school Lancashire clinical style.”
Four of Lancashire’s last five games in the competition have been down to the last ball, but they have only won one of them.
In the draw with Derbyshire, Matty Hurst was dismissed on the final delivery when any run would have ensured victory, while against Notts Outlaws on Friday, they were 149-3 in the 16th over of 182 chasers and ended up losing by one run.
Now, with the Roses clashing with Yorkshire on Friday and then Durham to finish on Sunday, both at Emirates Old Trafford, the Red Rose find themselves in must-win territory.
“We still have a chance,” Jennings said. “We need the results to go our way now, but we need to make sure we win the next two games and get the best third place.”
