It’s the middle of summer and staying home has never been so tempting. Luckily, there’s plenty to see at home this week. We’ve analyzed the latest releases to highlight the five best movies and TV shows worth streaming the weekend of July 17, 2026.
This week, “Heartstopper” releases its long-awaited finale in movie form. “Obsession,” one of the biggest horror hits of the year, is finally streaming, too. Plus, there are some fun, action-packed new series to sink your teeth into, including “Lucky” and “Ride or Die.”
5: Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro
“Dancing with the Stars” fans have a whole new competition to watch as they wait for the next season of the flagship series, and the stakes have never been higher. “Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro” brings together 12 dancers competing to be the new pro on the show’s upcoming 35th season. The new series is hosted by Robert Irwin, the winner of season 34. New episodes air Monday nights on ABC (available through a live TV service like YouTube TV or Fubo) and launch the next day on Disney Plus and Hulu.
4: Ride or die
Friendship is a test of life and death in “Ride or Die”, the latest comedy from Prime Video. The series follows two best friends, Judith and Debbie (Hannah Waddingham and Octavia Spencer), whose decades-long friendship is tested when it is revealed that Judith is a murderer and she must protect Debbie when she is targeted. All eight episodes are now streaming on Prime Video.
3: Stops the heart forever
Netflix’s fan-favorite teen romance series makes its final bow in movie form, following three seasons released from 2022 to 2024. “Heartstopper Forever” picks up the story of Nick Nelson (Kit Connor) and Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) as they navigate their relationship before Nick’s transition to college and all the changes that come with continuing to grow up. The film is now streaming on Netflix.
2: luck
Based on the novel of the same name by Marissa Stapley, “Lucky” stars Anya Taylor-Joy as the title character. When a heist goes wrong, con artist Lucky finds herself on the run from both the FBI and a mob boss in this gritty crime thriller. Annette Bening, Timothy Olyphant and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor complete the cast. New episodes are released on Wednesdays on Apple TV.
1: obsession
“Obsession” has been one of the dominant forces in the horror scene so far this year, and the indie film is finally available to stream. The film follows Bear (Michael Johnston), who is in love with his co-worker, Nikki (Inde Navarrette). Unable to muster the courage to ask her out, he wishes a toy “One Wish Willow” that she loves him more than anyone in the world. The wish comes true immediately, to a terrifying degree. “Obsession” is now streaming on Peacock.
