The Louvre Museum in Paris reopened its Galerie d’Apollon (Apollo Gallery) to visitors on Wednesday, nine months after jewels worth millions were stolen in a brazen heist.

But the gallery, which once housed France’s crown jewels, reopened without any exhibits.

“This is an iconic space within the Louvre, but it will no longer house the Crown Jewels and precious stones, which will be displayed in secure areas elsewhere in the museum,” said museum director Christophe Leribault.

The heist took place on October 19 when masked robbers used a truck with a mounted escalator to access the gallery through a balcony.

Police arrested four people who prosecutors say are the thieves, but the stolen items have not yet been recovered.
