Brydon Carse will play his first match since January after being named in Durham’s T20 Blast squad, having recovered from a hand injury.
Carse has been included for the North Group match against Leicestershire Foxes (18:30 BST), as Durham seek just their fourth win in this year’s competition.
The 30-year-old bowler last played in the fifth Ashes Test in Sydney when England lost the series 4-1.
Carse appeared in all five Tests in Australia and finished as England’s leading wicket-taker in the series with 22.
He was due to follow that up by playing in the Indian Premier League for Sunrisers Hyderabad, but was ruled out with an injury to his right hand, the hand he uses for bowling.
Carse, who took 58 wickets in his 14 Tests, missed the entire New Zealand Test series last month, which England also lost.
England’s next home series against Pakistan doesn’t start until August 20, but there is no red-ball cricket before then and he must play for Sunrisers Leeds in The Hundred.
