It was reported that a new fire also broke out on Tuesday in the Var department, in the southeast of the country.

France has recorded almost 11,000 fires since the beginning of the year, and President Emmanuel Macron said last week that there had not been so many fires in the country since World War II.

Satellite data on Tuesday from the European Forest Fire Information System (Effis) shows that more than 42,000 hectares (103,784 acres) burned in France between January and mid-July, surpassing the previous record set in 2022.
