HBO Max veteran Pia Barlow has been hired as Amazon MGM Studios’ new director of original series marketing.

In her new role, which Barlow will begin on August 3, the executive will oversee all marketing efforts for Prime Video’s global and US original series.

Barlow will report directly to Sue Kroll, global head of marketing for movies, series and brands at Amazon MGM Studios. Barlow’s newly created position mirrors that of the studio’s vice president of film marketing, Stephen Bruno, who also reports to Kroll.

“Pia brings an incredible amount of knowledge and experience, gained over several years dedicated to every possible genre of film and television, and I can’t wait for her to meet and begin collaborating with all of you,” Kroll said in a memo to employees announcing Barlow’s hiring on Friday.

Most recently, Barlow served as head of original marketing for HBO Max, where she led campaigns for “The Pitt,” “Euphoria,” “House of the Dragon,” “Hacks” and HBO’s upcoming “Harry Potter” TV adaptation, among other projects.

Prior to that role at HBO Max, Barlow worked at Netflix in marketing for series such as “Orange Is the New Black,” “Master of None,” “Making a Murderer” and “Queer Eye,” as well as growing the streamer’s international originals marketing strategy.

Barlow began her career at HBO in 2003 in marketing campaigns for “Girls,” “Boardwalk Empire” and “Silicon Valley.” Since then, her additional roles have included senior vice president of marketing for Twentieth Century Fox Film and an executive overseeing Netflix’s global creative marketing and social media campaigns for non-fiction originals and kids and families.
