Fast-rising, Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Laufey has signed with United Talent Agency for global representation in all areas, the company announced early Monday. UTA will work to secure opportunities in live touring, media, filmed entertainment, brand partnerships and more.

The signing comes as Laufey, whose fusion of pop and traditional jazz has introduced a decade-long selling style to new generations, is in the midst of a major world tour behind her Grammy-winning 2025 album “A Matter of Time,” which will be performed in North America, the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia and Oceania. That album, which peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, and its second full-length, 2023’s “Bewitched,” won Grammy Awards for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.

The singer, of Chinese-Icelandic descent, received the Knight’s Cross of the Order of the Falcon from Iceland’s President Halla Tómasdóttir, which is the highest national honor for citizens who have made significant contributions to the nation’s cultural, artistic and international reputation. She was also named one of Time magazine’s Women of the Year for 2025 and was honored in Variety‘s 2024 Hitmakers with the Crossover Artist of the Year award.

Despite the honors and accolades, and the ferocious jazz skills she displays on the guitar, Laufey avoids considering herself a jazz musician. “I think one of the reasons I don’t consider myself a full jazz artist is because I don’t think every single one of my songs falls squarely into that category, and it might be insulting to those who do full jazz to say it’s a full jazz album,” he said. Variety. “That said, there are a lot of tracks in my discography and on ‘Bewitched that look like jazz standards and would be very, very at home in a jazz environment. So it’s very hard to put myself in any kind of category. If I were in a pop category, I wouldn’t feel completely at home either. So that’s the only reason I haven’t claimed it.”

However, she continued, “I grew up listening to mostly classical music and jazz, and jazz music is where all my vocal inspiration comes from. And I’m a trained jazz singer; that’s what I studied. So (topping that list) was a huge honor. I really never would have believed it, and especially not with an audience as young as mine, and an audience of listeners who don’t usually listen to jazz music. I think that’s what made it so great.”
