MSG Networks and YES Network have signed a new partnership that will make DAZN the exclusive direct-to-consumer streaming home of those properties during the 2026-2027 NBA and NHL seasons, a move that appears poised to end a digital joint venture between the two New York-focused sports entities called Gotham Sports App, which launched in 2024.
Subscribers within the networks’ regional coverage territories will have access to live games from the Yankees, Knicks, Nets, Rangers, Devils, Islanders and Sabres, as well as 24/7 broadcasts from the MSG, MSG Sportsnet and YES networks, along with original programming. Existing users of The Gotham Sports app will continue to receive uninterrupted access to content, but YES and MSG intend to migrate users to DAZN during the 2026-2027 NBA and NHL seasons. The exact timing and other details related to that process will be announced in the coming months.
The change in strategy reflects the ongoing challenges facing regional sports networks. Cable networks, once dominant sports hubs in specific markets, face subscriber erosion driven by the rise of streaming and cord-cutting, as well as new viewing behaviors tied to mobile phones and short video clips and highlights.
The new agreement will strengthen DAZN’s programming. The company is already best known in the United States as a platform for combat sports and soccer. Outside the US, DAZN streams NFL Game Pass, NHL.TV, NBA and NCAA football and college basketball. The agreement “underlines our commitment
to expand our presence in the United States,” Shay Segev, CEO of DAZN Group, said in a statement.
“Our new strategic partnership with DAZN reflects YES Network’s continued commitment to elevate
streaming experience for our direct-to-consumer subscribers and TV Everywhere users,” Jon Litner, president and CEO of YES Network, said in a statement. “DAZN offers a world-class technology platform and elite experience in live sports streaming, and we look forward to working with them and MSG Networks to continue serving fans of the Yankees and Nets, as well as fans of the teams broadcast on MSG, with the most engaging sports content in the country.”
