Mubi will theatrically release the Sundance Grand Jury Prize winning documentary “Nuisance Bear.” The release begins in Los Angeles on Nov. 6 and will open in New York, Canada and the U.K. on Dec. 4.
Per the logline, “Nuisance Bear” “immerses viewers in the experience of a polar bear forced to navigate tourists, wildlife officers, and hunters as climate change delays the freeze and pushes bears closer to human settlements. When a sacred predator is branded a ‘nuisance,’ it becomes unclear who truly belongs in this shared landscape.”
“Nuisance Bear” won the U.S. Grand Jury Prize for Documentary at the Sundance Film Festival 2026, the Werner Herzog Film Award 2026, is nominated for five Critics Choice Documentary Awards, and has won numerous other international awards. The documentary is directed and filmed by Jack Weisman and Gabriela Osio Vanden, produced by Jack Weisman, Gabriela Osio Vanden, Will N. Miller, Teddy Leifer, and Michael Code, edited by Andres Landau, and the music is composed by Cristóbal Tapia De Veer.

Proof Inc. Announces First New York Studio
Proof Inc., the production company focused on visualization, has opened its first New York studio, with filmmaker Ari Aster’s next feature as its inaugural project.
Founder and CEO Ron Frankel will oversee the New York operation, splitting his time between the company’s Los Angeles and New York studios. The company has provided visualization services for productions such as the “Jurassic World” franchise, the “Harry Potter” TV series, “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” and “Stranger Things.” Proof New York now joins Proof London, Proof Australia, and Proof Inc., which has been based in Los Angeles since 2002.
“Establishing Proof’s first New York studio is a full-circle moment, both personally and professionally,” Frankel said. “I began my career in visualization in Manhattan in the late ’90s, when the community of 3D artists and animators was relatively small. Today, New York has an extraordinarily deep pool of creative talent and filmmakers. Establishing a permanent presence here allows us to become part of that community and build on the relationships and creative collaborations that have always been at the heart of Proof.”
