Sussex head coach Paul Farbrace will switch roles to become director of cricket at the cash-strapped club from November.

Farbrace had previously announced that he would be leaving his current role at the club, but will now take up his new job on a part-time basis.

The move will give financially strapped Sussex time to name his successor.

“When I announced earlier this season that I was stepping down as head coach, I truly believed it was the right decision, and I still do,” Farbrace told the club’s website., external

“What has changed is the opportunity to continue helping Sussex Cricket in a different role.

“I was not ready to say goodbye to this group of players or everything we have worked so hard to build together. This role allows me to continue supporting players and staff across the club as we work towards the goals we all want to achieve.”
