The California couple, both 82, married on July 4, 1976, the United States bicentennial. With huge fireworks and parties all over the United States, they say it seemed as if the entire country was celebrating with them.
Fifty years on, the couple and their best friend, who was at the wedding, tell the BBC how it felt to mark the two milestones in what was “a very festive moment” for the nation.
