Since its release on July 8, the film has amassed a cumulative gross of $3.7 million from a total of 511,471 admissions.
The local suspense thriller “The Eyes” remained in second position with 1.8 million dollars and 257,816 viewers. Directed by Yeom Ji-ho and starring Shin Min-ah and Kim Nam-hee, the new version of the Spanish film “Julia’s Eyes” has raised its accumulated gross to 8.7 million dollars with a total of 1,277,263 spectators.
“Toy Story 5” moved into third place, grossing $1.7 million from 238,520 admissions, raising its gross in South Korea to $17.6 million from a total of 2,580,319 admissions since its release in mid-June.
The religious animated musical “David” debuted in fourth place, grossing $390,901 from 57,675 admissions over the three days. Including trailers, the film has raised its initial domestic gross to $493,014 thanks to 75,469 viewers.
The veteran action-horror film “Colony” took fifth place, grossing $275,526 and 37,008 admissions over the weekend. Directed by Yeon Sang-ho and starring Jun Ji-hyun, Koo Kyo-hwan and Ji Chang-wook, the viral hive mind thriller has reached a cumulative gross of $41.4 million with a total of 5,914,322 admissions since its release on May 21.
“Marty Supreme” took sixth place on the list, adding $110,163 to its tally with a gross of $723,165, while ’90s retro music comedy “Wild Sing” took seventh place, grossing $72,357 to bring its total to $8.5 million.
The Japanese animated adventure “Doraemon the Movie: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil” took eighth place with $82,132 in the box to land with a cumulative total of $360,752.
Plus M Entertainment’s highly anticipated epic sci-fi thriller “Hope” came in ninth place, grossing $101,311 from 10,146 advance entries ahead of its upcoming wide release. Directed by Na Hong-jin and featuring a star-studded international cast including Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, Jung Ho-yeon, Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander, the film chronicles a rural community facing an extraterrestrial threat and has a preliminary total of $106,628.
Rounding out the final rung of the top 10 is “Backrooms,” which generated $65,575 over the three days, bringing its cumulative total to $8.5 million, after 1,209,069 admissions.
The collective overall market gross for the weekend was $8.2 million, up from $7.3 million last week.
