“Batman: Caped Crusader” has unmasked its Joker.

“House of the Dragon” star Matthew Needham will voice the villain in Season 2 of the animated noir series after the Clown Prince of Crime was teased at the end of Season 1. (John DiMaggio, who voices Detective Harvey Bullock on the show, is credited with voicing the Joker in the final episode.)

Needham’s casting was revealed at San Diego Comic-Con, where he joined cast members Hamish Linklater (Batman) and Jamie Chung (Harley Quinn), as well as executive producers James Tucker and Geoffrey Thorne at a panel, which followed the screening of the Season 2 premiere episode.

The 10-episode second season of “Batman: Caped Crusader” will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on July 31. In addition to Linklater, Chung, and Needham, the show’s voice cast also includes Eric Morgan Stuart, Michelle C. Bonilla, Krystal Joy Brown, Jason Watkins, Gary Anthony Williams, Ronan Raftery, Wunmi Mosaku, Laraine Newman, Gray DeLisle, DiMaggio, Zach Hoffman, William Salyers, Josh Brener, Bumper Robinson, Cedric Yarbrough, Tom Kenny, Roger Craig Smith, Blythe Melin, Fryda Wolff, Kevin Michael Richardson, Juliet Donenfeld and Robin Atkin Downes.

“Batman: Caped Crusader” was released in 2024 on Prime Video. The animated series follows Batman’s early years as he wages a one-man war against crime in Gotham City. It comes from executive producers JJ Abrams, Matt Reeves and Bruce Timm, as well as James Tucker, Geoffrey Thorne, Sarah Geismer, Rachel Rusch Rich and Sam Register.

Amazon’s gaming division, Luna, also screened the trailer for its upcoming video game “Batman: Caped Crusader – Chronicles,” which will also launch on July 31 on the Luna app.
