Summer may be coming to a close, but the fall TV (and movie) premieres are just getting started. We’ve scoured the recent releases and rounded up the five best new movies and TV shows streaming the weekend of September 18, 2026.

This week’s hottest shows include the newest installment in the “Traitors” franchise and Sharon Horgan’s latest comedy. A few fan-favorite dramas have also returned for new seasons, including prestige hits “MobLand” and “Slow Horses.” Even though it’s a TV-heavy week, there’s also a new comedy movie on Netflix.

5: MobLand

One of the most star-studded Paramount Plus originals returns for a second season. In “MobLand,” Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan star as the heads of the Harrigan crime family. As new threats face their empire, their savvy fixer (Tom Hardy) attempts to keep things in check. New episodes drop Fridays on Paramount Plus.

4: Best of the Best

“Never Have I Ever” star Maitreyi Ramakrishnan returns to Netflix in “Best of the Best,” a coming-of-age college comedy. The movie follows two childhood best friends (Ramakrishnan and Priyanka Kedia) who decide to join the super-competitive Bollywood-fusion dance team at UCLA. The film is now streaming on Netflix.

3: Youth

Sharon Horgan, the creative mastermind and star of “Bad Sisters” (and several other comedies), is back with her latest TV outing. “Youth” follows a divorced woman who decides to get back out there as her son prepares to head off to university. She navigates her dating life while balancing work, parenthood, and her aging parents. New episodes drop Sundays on HBO Max.

2: The Traitors: New Blood

The hit reality series “The Traitors” returns with a twist in “The Traitors: New Blood.” This time around, the 22 contestants are everyday Americans and not celebrities, adding a little extra mystery to the game. Alan Cumming is back as host, and with $250,000 on the line, it’s shaping up to be a can’t-miss season. New episodes air on Thursdays on NBC, which can be live streamed through Peacock Premium Plus.

1: Slow Horses

“Slow Horses” has become one of the most reliable TV series since its premiere in 2022, both in terms of quality and its ability to churn out a new season every year. Season 6 of the witty spy thriller finds Gary Oldman and the rest of the slow horses once again fighting for their lives. This time around, assassins are hunting down anyone who has ever worked at Slough House, the last stop for MI5 misfits. New episodes stream Wednesdays on Apple TV.
