Hampshire Hawks beat Notts Outlaws by 27 runs at Edgbaston to set up a meeting with Northamptonshire Steelbacks in the men’s T20 Blast final.
After Hampshire opener Toby Albert was dismissed early on, Hawks captain James Vince and Joe Weatherley combined superbly and put together a partnership of 126 on their way to a total of 187-3.
Weatherley finished with a T20 career-high 88 not out, while Vince scored 59 off 43 balls, helping Hampshire set the highest total of T20 Finals Day so far.
In their reply, Notts looked good at 100-1 with opener Joe Clarke making 64 off 43 balls, but they lost their last nine wickets for 60 with pacer James Fuller winning 4-26.
With last year’s runners-up Hampshire looking to improve in 2026, they got off to a poor start when Albert managed his second delivery from Mohammad Amir to Tom Moores.
Vince was then joined in the middle by Weatherley, who continued his good form from this season’s Blast to the semi-final.
Their 126-run partnership was one of the best in the competition so far, with Vince hitting a six so high over deep square leg that it was lost in one of the stands being rebuilt.
Vince was eventually caught at long range after failing to connect with a slower ball from former teammate Benny Howell.
Weatherley continued to find the boundary after Vince departed and finished with five fours and five sixes.
South African batsman Tristan Stubbs joined Weatherley but could only make eight before fellow overseas batsman Hilton Cartwright finished the innings with 19 off nine balls.
After the Outlaws survived the first two overs of their reply, Hampshire struck in the third over when George Munsey pulled a Chris Wood ball towards the leg side where Stubbs was able to take a simple catch.
Clarke and Jack Haynes then put Notts in the chase, including a big six from Clarke that took the Outlaws to 50 after seven overs.
His half-century came in the eleventh over with a lead over third man for four before he took a single and raised his bat towards the Edgbaston crowd.
Clarke eventually scored 64 off 43 balls, sending one high in the air off Fuller as Scott Currie took a catch, a few balls after England all-rounder Liam Dawson removed Haynes for 25.
From 102-3 the collapse began.
Moores departed for nine in the 15th over before Chris Wood took his second wicket with his first ball of the 17th over taking South African George Linde, who hit long-on where Currie took another catch.
England pacer Sonny Baker claimed his first wicket in the 18th over, ripping Benny Howell’s middle stump out of the ground before Currie caught and bowled Liam Patterson-White.
Right-arm spinner Currie then took the wicket of Dillon Pennington with his next ball, knocking the balls off the top of his stumps.
Fuller took his third and fourth wickets of the game in the final over, bowling Joe Pocklington and Olly Stone as Notts were bowled out with a ball to spare.
Hampshire Hawks will now face Northamptonshire Steelbacks in the T20 Blast final with a kick-off time of 18:45 BST.
