On Tuesday, Trump threatened to attack Iran’s energy infrastructure if Tehran did not return to talks.

Iran’s chief negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, told state media that Tehran had “no reason” to abide by any deal that did not benefit the country.

He added that Iran’s national security depended on maintaining what he described as “Iranian agreements” in the Strait of Hormuz.

In the latest attacks, the United States targeted command centers, air defense sites and coastal surveillance facilities across Iran, including the port city of Bandar Abbas and Greater Tunb Island, the US Central Command (Centcom) said.

Explosions were heard across Iran and air defenses were activated in Tehran, Iranian state media reported.

Shortly after, US allies in the Gulf reported attacks: Kuwait’s military said it intercepted drone strikes, while Bahrain’s Interior Ministry told citizens to remain calm and go to the nearest safe place.

The Iranian military also said that in its latest round of attacks it targeted American communications systems and fuel storage facilities in Jordan.

Separately, the United States shot at and disabled an empty Curacao-flagged oil tanker Wednesday, which Centcom said was attempting to sail toward a blockaded Iranian port.
