The attack occurred around 10:00 p.m. local time (20:00 GMT), when Berlin police reported that a white vehicle drove into a crowd at a Pride event in the capital.

Hundreds of thousands of people had gathered in Tiergarten park, near the iconic Brandenburg Gate, for the annual event, known as Christopher Street Day.

Some people were also stabbed in the incident.

Shortly after, the Pride event was canceled.

The performance ended abruptly and the organizers came on stage and told the crowd that the event was over and to start walking towards the exits.

As the message was given to the crowd, the word “Evacuation” was projected on a large screen on the stage.

An unverified video posted on social media showed large crowds of people leaving the scene as emergency vehicles rushed to the scene.

At approximately 01:00 local time, police confirmed that one woman had died and 16 others had been injured.

A short time later, police confirmed they had located the vehicle believed to have been used in the attack crashing into a tree.
