Arav Shetty’s impressive all-round contribution helped Lancashire end Nottinghamshire’s 100% winning start to this season’s One-Day Cup with a fascinating 31-run victory defending 221.

Shetty top-scored with a career-best 53 off 57 middle-order balls in Lancashire’s all-out 220.

Farhan Ahmed was excellent for 3-26, while Liam Patterson-White also scored three times with spin for the visitors.

Patterson-White then helped Nottinghamshire recover from 77-5 with a laborious 39.

But Shetty’s turn accounted for 3-35 off 10 overs and was decisive as the Outlaws were bowled out for 189.

South Africa’s wicketkeeper-batsman Kyle Verreynne top-scored for the visitors with a valiant 61.

Lancashire, for whom Jack Blatherwick also scored 31 and claimed four wickets, replaced Nottinghamshire at the top of Group A. Both teams have won three and lost one of their four group matches so far.
