Deadpool’s story isn’t over yet.

During a panel at Fanatics Fest over the weekend, Ryan Reynolds confirmed that there will “eventually” be another movie starring the Marvel antihero, but it may revolve around “deep cuts” from the character’s comics.

“There are some really deep cuts that I think are missing in the movies. I think there are some deep cuts missing in some of the comics,” Reynolds told moderator Nature Luvz You (via Hobby Nonsense). “There are certainly some things that I love [Deadpool co-creator] Fabian [Nicieza] wrote that it is amazing [and] Gerry Duggan, another friend and amazing comics writer, who we can include. But then there are things to come. Eventually there will be, you know, even remotely another ‘Deadpool’ movie. So it will be great.”

Marvel did not immediately respond to VarietyRequest for comments.

Following the huge success of 2024’s “Deadpool & Wolverine,” Reynolds told “Sunday Today” in April that he had already begun writing Deadpool’s return to the big screen, although he said Merc With the Mouth would not be the main focus.

“I have some things written down, but I don’t think I’ll refocus on it,” Reynolds said. “He’s a supporting character. He’s a guy who’s great in a group.”

Reynolds has also downplayed rumors that the character will return in the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday” film, although there remains much speculation about that possibility. In a 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Reynolds said he would love for the character to cross over with either the Avengers or the X-Men, but he doesn’t want him to join either group.

“If it becomes either of those things, we’re at the end,” Reynolds said. “Deadpool works very well appearing with the does Become an Avenger or X-Man, we are at the end of your journey.”
