Zendaya stunned on the red carpet at the “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” premiere in Los Angeles wearing a black satin Ashi Studio corset with a wide architectural train, putting an exclamation point on a press tour that the young star used as her personal catwalk.
“It’s kind of an abstract way to present the chandelier,” said Law Roach, Zendaya’s longtime stylist. Variety of the look during Monday night’s premiere. “You know, in our minds, it’s like this metamorphosis of this woman into this thing. And the jewelry is Boucheron.”
While Roach said she “can’t pick a favorite look” from the tour, she mentioned the archival spiderweb dress from John Galliano’s 1997 “Circus” collection that Zendaya wore in June to the London premiere of the Marvel sequel.
When asked about his plans for the “Dune: Part Three” press tour, Roach didn’t elaborate, but shared, “‘Dune’ is a little far away, but it’s going to be great. I’m excited.”
Zendaya made headlines last month by skipping high fashion and wearing a vintage Spider-Man T-shirt at a “Brand New Day” fan event in Paris. Roach purchased the shirt on eBay for just $34.99. After the live look, Roach posted the shirt listing to her Instagram Story with the caption, “Style doesn’t always have to cost a fortune.”
Zendaya stars alongside her husband, Tom Holland, in “Brand New Day,” in which Peter Parker navigates a world where his friends and family have forgotten him. Other cast members include Mark Ruffalo, Jon Bernthal, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas and Tramell Tillman. Destin Daniel Cretton serves as director.
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” hits theaters on July 31.
