The lobby brought the outdoors inside with furniture that resembled tree trunks, potted plants of all sizes, and what Brandenberg calls a “living wall of greenery” that climbs two stories high behind a reclaimed wood and stone staircase.
When I walked in, a relaxing soundtrack made me feel like I was in some kind of sanctuary. I was listening to Sounds of 1, the network’s exclusive playlist curated by Michaelangelo L’Acqua, head of global entertainment at 1 Hotels’ parent company, Starwood Hotels.
“The acoustic instrumentation and soulful vocals are balanced by select electronic elements, creating a sound that transitions seamlessly from the energy of the day to the more melancholic tones of the night,” a hotel representative told Business Insider in an email. “The music ebbs and flows with the rhythm of the property, complementing the natural materials and relaxing atmosphere found throughout the space.”
With a relaxing nature-inspired soundtrack, a variety of organic textures to touch, and greenery around me, I thought the lobby was a great place to practice mindfulness.
