  • I had dinner with a friend at Gordon Ramsay Steak in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
  • The atmosphere and tasty appetizers made us feel like we were at a high-end steakhouse.
  • However, I wasn’t convinced that the steak I ordered was worth the high price.

I grew up watching marathons of Gordon Ramsay’s “Kitchen Nightmares,” so when I finally had the opportunity to dine at one of the famous chef’s restaurants, I anticipated nothing but greatness.

On a girls’ trip to Atlantic City, New Jersey, in July 2025, a friend and I stopped by the Ramsay’s steakhouse chain, aptly named Gordon Ramsay Steak, inside Harrah’s Resort.

This was the first time I really explored Atlantic City and dined at one of Gordon Ramsay’s restaurants. Gordon Ramsay Steak has seven locations: Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Vancouver, Baltimore and Kansas City, as well as Westlake, Louisiana and Elizabeth, Indiana.

With a big celebrity name comes big expectations and we left impressed overall, if a little monetarily drained.

This was our experience dining at Gordon Ramsay Steak in Atlantic City.

We arrived just in time for our dinner reservation.

We made a reservation about a week in advance for 7pm on Wednesday night. As it was midweek and well in advance, we had no problems getting a reservation for the main dinner time for two people.

We found the restaurant one floor from the casino floor.,He instantly spotted many neon signs: one with the restaurant’s name, another with an illustration of Gordon Ramsay sharpening knives, and another with a diagram of meat cuts.

If the neon signs weren’t enough to alert us, there was also a video of Ramsay inviting guests to the restaurant.

The screen played a video of Gordon Ramsay talking about the restaurant and special items like the prix fixe menu.

As big Ramsay fans, we thought this was a fun touch to our dining experience and made the restaurant feel more connected to the famous chef.

After waiting a few minutes for our table to be ready, a hostess escorted us to the dining room.

Inside, we were greeted by an accent wall painted with a Union Jack that led into the main dining room.

Ramsay was born in Scotland but grew up in England, and many of his restaurants have a distinctly British style.

We liked that the main dining room was completely separate from the rest of the resort, creating a more private and immersive dining experience compared to other restaurants we dined at during the week, which were right on the casino floor.

The dining room had a mix of regular chairs, high back chairs, and booths.

We were seated in a booth, meaning our party of two had plenty of room to spread out.

The overall aesthetic of the dining room was cozy but modern. Its muted color scheme was earthy green and blue, with hints of red throughout. It felt romantic, with plush leather seats and candles placed on each table. Still, it was well lit; no one would have difficulty reading the menu thanks to the overhead lighting.

The cutlery had a touch of elegance.

We were each given a cloth napkin, two forks, and a butter knife. They gave me a steak knife when I ordered my main course.

We both ordered drinks from the specialty cocktail menu.

I ordered the Supersonic G&T ($17.99), which is Ramsay’s take on a classic gin and tonic.

It contained yuzu, grapefruit syrup, and grapefruit juice, making the drink a little sweeter and more flavorful than the standard cocktail. I thought it was light and refreshing, and went well with all the dishes we tried.

My friend ordered the British Culprit ($18), which is sadly no longer on the cocktail menu. It was the restaurant’s version of an espresso martini made with rum instead of vodka. It was sweet but not creamy, and the “perfect pick-me-up” after a day of traveling from New York to Atlantic City.

Our waiter started with two homemade rolls and butter.

The rolls were warm and sprinkled with salt, and the butter was soft enough to spread on the bread.

The bread was slightly sweet and although the butter didn’t have much flavor on its own, we were grateful for a small bite to curb our appetite before the rest of the meal arrived.

We consulted with our waiter about the most popular appetizers. He recommended the smoked wagyu beef tartare.

He explained that the beef tartare ($29.99) was smoked to give the dish even more flavor. I’m a big fan of this French dish, so I just had to try it and compare it to others I’ve tried in the past.

The egg yolk was creamy and the beef tartare was full of flavour.

The tartare, made with lemon zest, red onion, capers and quail egg yolk, was served with Yukon Gold French Fries.

This was by far one of the best beef tartares I have ever had and I have been to Paris several times. I found that the meat was of high quality and certainly not lacking in flavor. It was perfectly salty, flavorful and the smoky flavor really came through.

However, $30 seemed a little steep considering the size of this appetizer. It was just about Enough for two people to get a decent portion, so those dining with a larger group may be a little disappointed.

While the fries added a balanced textural element to the dish, they also felt a little low next to the tartare. I would have preferred some pieces of crusty bread.

For our second course, we divided the salad into wedges.

The market wedge salad ($17.99) was presented beautifully. Two heads of baby iceberg lettuce were bathed in a delicious, creamy Stilton blue cheese dressing and topped with sliced red onion.

The dressing was poured over the lettuce and the salad plate was lightly spread with dressing under the rest of the salad.

The salad was a bold but refreshing take on the classic wedge salad.

The iceberg lettuce provided a fresh, crisp base that contrasted well with the smoky richness of the applewood-smoked bacon pieces, while the slices of heirloom tomatoes and crisp chunks of English cucumber added bright notes to the dish. The creamy and tangy dressing brought the dish together.

If you’re a fan of blue cheese, definitely order this salad.

My friend ordered the branzino as a main course.

The branzino branzino ($58.99) was served with rock shrimp, artichokes, kalamata olives, grated fennel, sundried tomatoes and lemon broth.

The dish was very well presented. It was a lighter dish for a main course, but after the bread, beef tartare, and salad smothered in dressing, I was ready for a light respite.

The branzino seemed to be heavily inspired by Mediterranean dishes.

While the restaurant features British staples like Beef Wellington and Roast Chicken, we were excited to see other culinary influences woven throughout the menu.

The branzino, for example, had a Mediterranean feel. It was served on a bed of Kalamata olives, artichokes and sun-dried tomatoes, giving it a rich flavor without weighing down the dish.

The fish had a crispy skin while retaining its tenderness. The base of the dish was almost stew-like and could be eaten with a spoon. It tasted like a delicious “ecosystem” of Mediterranean flavor, my friend said.

For my main course, I decided to spend a lot of money and order the most expensive steak a la carte on the menu.

steak gordon ramsay atlantic city

I ordered the 8 ounce American wagyu steak. At $119.99, it was the most expensive cut of meat and the most expensive item on the restaurant’s menu.

There is also an A5 Triple Seared Japanese Steak on the menu, which was priced per ounce, but I ordered the most expensive one based on the price listed on the menu.

I ordered my steak medium rare, which the waiter recommended.

This steak was extremely tender, but not what I expected from a wagyu cut.

steak gordon ramsay atlantic city

I don’t claim to be a steak expert, but I was a little surprised when I cut into the steak. I was expecting more grain.

That said, the flavor and tenderness won me over. The steak was boldly seasoned with pepper, with a beautifully seared crust giving way to buttery meat inside.

The steak was delicious. However, for over $100, it had no accompaniment other than a light layer of juice and a dollop of whole grain mustard.

Yes, the steak spoke for itself. But I think I would have been just as happy with a 16-ounce New York strip ($79.99) or an 8-ounce filet ($69.99).

I’m not sure I would order it again, solely because of the price.

We were both too full to even consider dessert, so we opted for a pre-casino cocktail.

Eager to try more cocktails on the restaurant’s menu, we each ordered a spicy margarita to fuel us for a night exploring Atlantic City.

The Mayahuel margarita ($17.99) was made with Patrón Silver tequila, Cointreau, fresh lime, passion fruit and jalapeno. It was spicy and salty, and was the perfect end to our meal, setting us up to live it in Atlantic City.

Our meal was expensive at $320, but it was worth it. Although next time I would order a different main dish.

steak gordon ramsay atlantic city

After tax and tip, our bill at Gordon Ramsay Steak was $320 for two appetizers, two entrees, and four cocktails.

While that’s more than my friend and I would normally spend on dining out, I ordered one of the most expensive cuts of meat on the menu.

Next time, I would probably opt for a cheaper cut of meat, but order the same appetizers and cocktails.

While some might argue that you’re paying for the name at a celebrity restaurant, the food was good enough to warrant a return visit.
