After the final round of league matches on Sunday, Glamorgan learned that they would face either Kent or Gloucestershire in the final.

The Dragons opened their campaign with a convincing 65-run victory over Gloucestershire, while Kent remain the only team to have beaten Glamorgan this season, claiming an eight-wicket victory early in the competition.

Despite Glamorgan’s good form, Priest refuses to look too far into the future.

“Coming into a final, we just don’t know what’s going to happen, anything can happen on the day,” the former New Zealand international said.

“It was a really good performance against Worcestershire, a really clinical performance for us going into the final. We’re really happy to be there and we’ll see what happens.”

If Kent progress, Glamorgan will welcome the opportunity to avenge their only defeat.

“They played very well that day. All the teams have improved a lot and that is very positive for the competition,” Priest added.

“If we play Kent again we will definitely look to improve against them this season.”

Captain Lauren Parfitt, who scored an unbeaten 72 from just 40 balls against Worcestershire, believes the experience gained on finals day last year could prove invaluable.

“To have it at home, not many people can do it,” Parfitt said.

“We really want to see a lot of people here supporting us.”

Parfitt also highlighted the momentum Glamorgan has gained since their loss to Kent, with the team carrying a three-game winning streak into the final.

However, he admitted there are still areas to focus on, one of which may be the fielding after Glamorgan missed several key catching opportunities against Worcestershire that stronger opposition could punish.

The occasion has added significance as Glamorgan are set to move up to Tier One and professional cricket next season, but Priest believes his players have managed expectations impressively throughout the campaign.

“We’ve had that target on our back the entire time we’ve been in the competition because everyone knows we’re going up,” Priest said.

“I think we’ve handled it pretty well.”

With a large home crowd expected at Sophia Gardens, both the coach and captain hope the fans can help create a memorable occasion.

“We’ve been very lucky with all the support we’ve had at all the games,” Priest said.

“The girls love the crowd supporting them. We’d love to have a big crowd on a Sunday afternoon – really, what better place to be.”

And Parfitt echoes this sentiment, adding: “We are very lucky to be in that position in a home final. It will be wonderful to have as many people here as we can next Sunday.”

After almost losing last season, Glamorgan now have the chance to complete their impressive League Two campaign with a trophy on home soil.
