Annabel Scholey, the British actress most recently seen in the Disney+ hit “Rivals,” has joined the cast of the upcoming Netflix thriller series “The Lord’s Day,” now in production in the United Kingdom.

Variety understands that Scholey, also known for the BBC series “The Split”, has a key role in the six-part series, based on Michael Dobbs’ 2007 novel of the same name and directed by F1 star Damson Idris.

Additional cast members include Harry Lawtey (“Industry,” “Joker: Folie à Deux”), Arsema Thomas (“Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story,” “She Taught Love”), Sophie Willan (“Alma’s Not Normal,” “Ludwig”), Gemma Whelan (“Game of Thrones,” “Killing Eve”) and Timothy Spall (“The Sixth Commandment,” “Goodbye June”).

The official description for the series reads: “At the State Opening of Parliament, British spy Harry Jones (Idris) finds himself inside the iconic building in the middle of a lockdown. As the siege intensifies, loyalties are tested and selfless sacrifices are made, leading to a desperate fight for survival from which not everyone will emerge alive. Can Harry use his skills and training to be the country’s savior?”

“The Lord’s Day” is being produced by Bad Wolf, the production company behind “Industry,” “His Dark Materials,” “The Other Bennett Sister” and most recently co-producers of the final two seasons of “Doctor Who.” In addition to his starring role, Idris also executive produces alongside Bad Wolf’s Jane Tranter and Dan McCulloch, as well as lead writers Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley and director Ben Chanan.

Scholey’s other credits include a lead role in the hit Channel 4 drama “The Couple Next Door” and Janis Pugh’s Welsh romantic musical comedy “Chuck Chuck Baby”, which won the Bafta Cymru for best television film. In 2023, he starred alongside his “The Lord’s Day” co-star Spall in the acclaimed BBC true crime drama “The Sixth Commandment,” which won the BAFTA for Best Limited Drama.
