This week’s line-up includes an action flick starring Bob Odenkirk, along with Sunny Sandler’s latest coming-of-age film. On the TV side, there are new seasons of “Reacher” and “Women in Blue (Las Azules),” as well as the series premiere of “Lanterns,” if you’re looking for something brand-new to sink your teeth into.

5: Normal

Bob Odenkirk’s latest action film takes on small-town life in the Midwest, and fans of “Nobody” will find some familiar thrills. “Normal” follows a sheriff (Odenkirk) hoping for a reprieve by working in a sleepy town. When a bank robbery goes wrong, he finds that things in the town might not be quite what they seem. Lena Heady and Henry Winkler also star. Normal is now streaming on HBO Max.

4: Reacher

Jack Reacher is back. Based on the Lee Child book series of the same name, Season 4 of “Reacher” finds the action hero drawn into an all-new mystery of an unsettling encounter on a subway. Sydelle Noel, Christopher Marquette, and Kevin Corrigan are among the supporting cast members in the latest season. The first three episodes are now streaming on Prime Video.

3: Women in Blue (Las Azules)

An underrated Apple TV gem returns for a second season this week. “Women in Blue (Las Azules)” follows Mexico’s first female police force. In Season 2, María (Bárbara Mori) has been promoted to lieutenant, and Las Azules investigate the murder of a student activist, which turns out to be much more than it seems. Ximena Sariñana, Natalia Téllez, and Amorita Rasgado also star. The season premiere is now streaming on Apple TV.

2: Don’t Say Good Luck

Netflix’s new coming-of-age film follows Sophie (Sunny Sandler) as she navigates high school and the starring role in her school’s musical. Her life is thrown for a loop when she finds out her mother is sick. Melanie Lynskey, Max Greenfield, and Steve Buscemi also star. The film is now streaming on Netflix.

1: Lanterns

Despite its mixed results with movies released since “Avengers: Endgame,” the MCU has had a chokehold on the prestige superhero TV scene. The new DC Universe will attempt to combat that with “Lanterns,” a detective-style drama from Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King. The series is about the intergalactic peacekeepers known as Green Lanterns (“space cops”), following veteran Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) as he trains newbie John Stewart (Aaron Pierre). “Lanterns” premieres on Sunday on HBO and HBO Max.
