Kent have signed Bangladesh international seamer Khaled Ahmed for their four remaining County Championship matches as they chase promotion back to Division One.

The 33-year-old has taken 190 wickets in 70 first-class appearances for his home division, Sylhet.

He made his Test debut for Bangladesh in 2018 and has 34 wickets in 18 Test caps for his country so far.

He told the club website:, external “It’s an honour for me to play county cricket and join a club with a big history such as Kent.

“This is an important part of our season and I am determined to help the team achieve promotion”.

Kent are currently lying second in Division Two, level on points with third-placed Northamptonshire and 40 points behind leaders Durham.

Ahmed joins fellow Bangladesh international team-mate Hasan Mahmud, who has returned to the club following his first two matches for Kent in June.

He took 12 wickets in total, including 9-101 against Lancashire at Stanley Park, before leaving for international duty.

Kent director of cricket Simon Cook said: “With three of our final four games at home, we can stick with a formula that worked well in the first half of the year, while also having the flexibility to rest and rotate our frontline bowlers without compromising performance levels.

“It’s great to see that so many Bangladeshi cricket fans have starting following Kent since Hasan’s first stint here earlier this summer, and we hope that Khaled’s arrival too will help this continue.”
