Gloucestershire have signed fast bowler Henry Brookes from Middlesex on a three-year contract starting next season.
The 26-year-old initially joined the Bristol club on loan for the start of this season, but his spell was cut short due to a hamstring injury.
He returned to Middlesex where he will continue until the end of the season, at which point he will officially become a Gloucestershire player.
The right-arm seamer made a career-best 89 innings when Gloucestershire beat Derbyshire by 10 wickets in April.
“It’s been a quiet period for me but I’m really looking forward to getting back on the pitch and showing people what I can do,” Brookes told the Gloucestershire website., external
Head coach Jon Lewis added: “I’ve known Henry for a long time. We toured India alongside the England Under-19 team in 2017.
“He was a high-potential fast bowler back then, and we still see him as a player with huge potential now. We don’t think he’s anywhere near his ceiling.”
