Sussex have announced that former Kent boss Matt Walker will take over as new head coach for the 2027 season.

The 52-year-old will take up the role on November 1, replacing Paul Farbrace, who is switching roles to become Sussex’s new Director of Cricket.

Walker spent eight seasons as head coach at Kent, guiding them to promotion to Division One in 2018, T20 Blast success in 2021 and the One-Day Cup in 2022.

He has also coached with the England men’s team and is currently batting coach at Warwickshire and assistant coach at MI London, formerly known as Oval Invincibles, in The Hundred.
