David Harbour has won the Emmy for Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for his portrayal of Floyd Smernitch in HBO Max’s “DTF St. Louis.” This marks the actor’s first Emmy win.

As an executive producer on the series, he is also up for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series for “DTF St. Louis,” which will be presented during next week’s Primetime Emmy Awards.

Despite the first-time win, Harbour is no stranger to the Emmys, having received Supporting Actor nominations in both 2017 and 2018 for his role as Jim Hopper in “Stranger Things.”

Harbour’s win came on night 2 of the Creative Arts Emmys.

During his speech on stage, Harbour said he was really moved by the recognition. He said, “I can’t believe that you’ve embraced our show so much this beautiful, vulnerable, weird show that I love so much.” He went on to say, “In terms of my fellow nominees, it was not a fair fight. I got to play Floyd Smernitch, who is an incredibly written character by a genius named named Steve Conrad, who, is a true original.” Harbour concluded his speech by thanking the team at HBO and said, “Everybody was nominated for my show. It’s unbelievable.”

Last month, Harbour spoke to Variety about the difference between then and now: “Back then it was pretty singular, focused on you as an actor,” he says of his 2017 nominations for “Stranger Things.” “Going into this, it’s the show. It’s every single actor. ‘Stranger Things’ wasn’t mine. I was jobbed in,” he said. “I feel so proud. It’s my baby.”

His fellow nominees included Jason Bateman (“DTF St. Louis”), Richard Gadd (“Half Man), Richard Jenkins (“DTF St. Louis), Charles Melton (“Beef”) and Nick Offerman (“Death by Lightning”).

“DTF St. Louis” debuted on HBO Max in March and was well received by audiences and critics alike. The show has racked up 13 Emmy nominations this season, including Limited or Anthology Series, Casting for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie and Directing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
