The most viral soccer player of the FIFA World Cup left the United States with a rather peculiar memory.
Norwegian striker Erling Haaland returned home after his team lost to England in the quarterfinals on Sunday. She stepped off the plane at Oslo’s Gardermoen Airport on Monday in style, carrying a stuffed raccoon worth $750 in one hand and a Dolce & Gabbana bag in the other.
“He followed me home,” he joked about the raccoon in the caption of his Monday X post.
The raccoon was from Wild Bill’s Western Store in Dallas, a family-owned business that Haaland visited in early July, according to a post from the store on Instagram. The store’s website says it has been in business for more than 40 years.
The company jumped on the Haaland bandwagon, posting a photo of him on the home page of its website wearing a cowboy hat, cowboy boots, and a T-shirt that reads, “Everyone can kiss my Dallas.”
“As a family business, moments like these mean a lot to us,” the store wrote in a July 5 Instagram post. “Thank you for stopping by and spending time with our team.”
The raccoon, riding on a wooden board and holding a bottle of whiskey, is sold out at Wild Bill’s store, with the notice “inventory on the way.”
The store has also started international shipping since Haaland’s visit, after it was inundated with comments from Norwegians and other foreigners interested in its products.
Haaland, known for his blonde bun, funny facial expressions and goal-scoring ability, is perhaps the most viral player at this year’s World Cup. The Manchester City player, 25, has taken over the internet with memes and songs, including “Haaland (Ha Ha Ha),” a chant by a Manchester City fan.
Off the court, she has made waves with her fashion sense. He has frequently been photographed carrying rare Hermès bags, Chanel cashmere hats and other luxury items.
