Netflix’s drama series “Myron Bolitar” has cast its three lead roles. Variety It has been learned that Colin Woodell will star in the lead role alongside KJ Apa as Win Lockwood and Diane Guerrero as Esperanza Diaz.
Netflix originally announced the reboot of the series in May as part of its initial pitch to advertisers. The show is inspired by Harlan Coben’s popular Myron Bolitar books, of which 12 have been published.
The show’s tagline reads: “After an injury ends his NBA dreams, Myron Bolitar (Woodell) reinvents himself as a sports agent, using charm, intelligence and a ruthless partner to navigate the dirty, high-stakes world of sports, where saving his clients often means risking himself.”
Bolitar is further described as “Myron, a former college basketball star whose NBA career came to an abrupt end, reinvented himself as a sports agent. He built his agency, MB Sports, on an unwavering belief in overlooked athletes, with the same heart and fierce competitive drive that he once brought to the court.”
Woodell previously starred in the Netflix medical drama “Pulse” and recently appeared in the HBO comedy series “I Love LA.” He is also known for starring in the “John Wick” prequel series, “The Continental,” and for playing Buzz Aldrin in Greg Berlanti’s “Fly Me to the Moon.” His other television credits include “The Flight Attendant” on HBO Max.
Lockwood is said to be “Born into extraordinary privilege, Win stepped away from the family business to build something of his own alongside his closest friend, Myron. Unflappable, endlessly resourceful and fiercely loyal, he is the one Myron turns to when clients find themselves in trouble.”
Apa is best known for his starring role on the hit CW series “Riverdale,” in which he played Archie Andrews for the show’s entire seven seasons. He has also starred in films such as “The Hate U Give,” “I Still Believe,” “The Last Summer,” and “The Map That Leads To You.”
Diaz is described as “a former professional wrestler who became Myron’s indispensable right-hand man at MB Sports. Armed with infinite courage and a sharp wit, Esperanza is the backbone of the agency and the constant force that keeps both Myron and his clients in check.”
Guerrero stood out with her role as Maritza Ramos in the seminal Netflix series “Orange Is the New Black,” which lasted seven seasons. She is also known for starring in the critically acclaimed CW show “Jane the Virgin” and the DC series “Doom Patrol” on HBO Max. In film, she lent her voice to Isabela in the hit Disney animated musical “Encanto.”
Woodell is repped by Entertainment 360. Apa is repped by UTA, Red11 Management and Luber Roklin Entertainment. Guerrero is represented by Innovative Artists Entertainment, Entertainment 360 and Yorn Levine Barnes.
David E. Kelley and Kyle Long are writers, showrunners and executive producers of “Myron Bolitar,” with Kelley serving as executive producer through his David E. Kelley Productions (DEKP). DEKP’s Matthew Tinker will also executive produce alongside Corben via Final Twist Productions and Rick Muirragui. Greg Yaitaines will executive produce and direct several episodes.
“Myron Bolitar” is Netflix’s latest project based on Coben’s work from the last year. The others are: “Fool Me Once”, “Run Away”, “Safe”, “The Woods”, “The Innocent”, “Gone for Good”, “Stay Close”, “Hold Tight”, “The Stranger”, “Missing You”, “Just One Look”, “Caught” and “I Will Find You”.
