Independent genre label Spooky Pictures and global film and television studio Image Nation Studios have teamed up to produce “V/H/S: SCP.”
The feature-length project is the latest installment in the long-running “V/H/S” found footage horror franchise, and the first feature-length addition to the online collective fiction project, the SCP (Special Containment Procedures) Foundation.
Spooky Pictures’ Roy Lee and Steven Schneider will produce, along with Josh Goldbloom and Michael Schreiber. Goldbloom previously produced “V/H/S/94,” “V/H/S/99,” and “V/H/S/Halloween.” Schreiber worked on “V/H/S/94” and “V/H/S/Beyond.” Image Nation Studios CEO Ben Ross and Spooky Pictures’ Rami Yasin are executive producers.
“The horror genre continues to be a remarkable launching pad for new talent to share original creations, and the vast SCP universe has provided a vital incubator for this creativity to thrive,” Spooky Pictures co-founder Steven Schneider said in a press release. “Together with INS, this next project reinforces our shared commitment to finding new and unexpected spaces for stories. We look forward to expanding the V/H/S franchise with fresh and terrifying new stories that will keep viewers coming back for more.”
The SCP Foundation began in 2008 as a collaborative digital project and has grown to become one of the largest fan-driven online sci-fi and horror universes. Previous adaptations include games, short films, and web series.
“V/H/S: SCP” will adapt the found footage concept that the franchise has been known for since its inception in 2012. It will be framed as “recovered field documentation,” or video evidence collected, redacted and archived by the secret organization. Standalone segments of the anthology will focus on different objects, entities or events under the containment breach narrative.
The project is scheduled to be released in theaters in 2027.
