Zara Larsson knows what it costs her fans to attend her concerts.
The Swedish pop star said in a Tuesday TikTok that she had gotten feedback from fans saying that her tickets for the Bangkok leg of her “Midnight Sun Tour” were too expensive, and she said she agreed with them.
“And even though they’re in line with the market for international shows in Bangkok, it doesn’t make them less expensive,” she said.
She added that she wished there were a cheaper entry tier to make the concert more accessible, and that concerts shouldn’t be this “super exclusive thing” that people need to “save for months for.”
Larsson said that she doesn’t set her own ticket prices, but she wishes to change that in the future.
“And for the next shows, like, for my next tour, I don’t think there’s any reason why I shouldn’t be a part of, like, ticket pricing, or, like, I just want to be more involved, essentially,” she said.
Larsson’s Bangkok show is scheduled to take place on November 1. Tickets for the show are priced between 2,800 and 9,000 Thai Baht, or $84 and $270. Aside from Thailand, she also has shows lined up in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines.
Larsson has seen a resurgence of popularity this year, with her old hits like the 2015 “Lush Life” and the 2017 “Ain’t My Fault” rising on charts again. She’s also gotten a boost via her new songs “Midnight Sun” and “Stateside + Zara Larsson,” the latter of which was a collaboration with PinkPantheress.
Expensive concert tickets have become normalized, especially in the wake of concerts like Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour.” The price tag is even higher in secondary markets, where resellers make hefty profits by marking up the prices of highly sought-after tickets.
