TIS Studios inaugurated Stage 7, a new 18,300-square-foot soundstage at its Bogotá production complex, increasing its capacity to host large-scale international film and television productions in Colombia.

Standing 40 feet tall, the installation is described as the largest sound stage in Colombia and one of the largest in Latin America.

The launch marks the latest expansion for TIS Studios, the long-established Colombian-Mexican studio whose activities span original content, production services, post-production and international distribution.

“TIS Studios brings highly trained teams, international production standards and protocols to manage large-scale projects, all backed by almost three decades of delivering premium content,” said Samuel Duque, president of TIS Studios.

“Stage 7 adds to that foundation. Combined with Colombia’s production incentives, it gives producers, showrunners and production studios around the world one more reason to bring their most ambitious projects here.”

Stage 7 is integrated into the TIS Studios production lot in Bogotá, which includes seven other stages, including a dedicated casting studio. The complex also features standing sets including a prison, a restaurant and a furnished house interior, along with a three-level terrain with interchangeable facades.

The new set is completely soundproofed and equipped with a technical grill and air conditioning systems designed for scripted and unscripted filming. Productions also have access to green rooms, offices, costume and makeup areas, catering facilities, prop and costume storage rooms, and on-site parking.

The site is home to post-production facilities offering cloud-based editing, color correction, visual effects and Dolby Atmos-certified sound mixing. According to the company, these services qualify under the incentive for Colombian national production.

The inauguration comes after TIS Studios welcomed guests to this year’s Bogotá Audiovisual Market (BAM), the leading gathering of Colombia’s film and television industry.

The expansion builds on TIS Studios’ track record of projects for major global platforms and networks, including Netflix, Amazon, Disney, Paramount, CBS Studios, MTV, Fox Television Studios, Nickelodeon, NBCUniversal and Telemundo.

TIS Studios is headquartered in Bogotá and also maintains a production office in Mexico City, as well as operations in Miami. It provides services in more than 16 countries in the region.

Its current programming includes the fourth season of “Sin Senos Sí Hay Paraíso” on Telemundo and the second season of “Medusa” on Netflix.

In Mexico, TIS recently produced the Netflix microseries “Entre Padre e Hijo,” whose 10-minute episodes premiered earlier this year, while a second short title, “Proyecto Final,” will premiere later this month. He also co-produced the Mexican adaptation of Netflix’s “The Good Wife,” “Alice’s Law,” with CBS Studios.

The company is also in charge of the international distribution of “Futuro Desierto”, the Netflix series produced by Gaumont. It is part of a catalog of more than 4,500 hours of content in international distribution.
