An elderly woman in Florida has become the talk of her retirement community after vehicle licensing officials assigned her a cheeky license plate.
Pompano Beach resident Nancy Dello Stritto says she “was furious” when she found out her new license plate number was “SQZ A55.”
“I don’t think an older person who is almost 77 years old would drive with a license plate that says that,” Dello Stritto told CBS News in Miami, adding, “How could he pass inspection?”
She said some neighbors encouraged her to change the plate, while others, including family members and her children, told her to keep it.
Dello Stritto said he was hoping for a replacement plate and initially didn’t notice anything strange when he received it in the mail.
Despite his displeasure, he has decided to keep the plate “just to see what happens.”
“I’m resigned to it; maybe it was meant to be in my car,” Dello Stritto said.
“I can handle it if I hit a few horns here and there. Actually, being over 70, I might like a few horns.”
According to CBS, Florida plates are manufactured in a northern Florida state prison for nearly 100 years, before being distributed through state agencies.
Broward County officials have said license plates deemed offensive can be exchanged for free.
