Crunchyroll and Aniplex have revealed that the new theatrical anime film “Solo Leveling: Beyond the System,” based on the popular Korean novel and webtoon series, is now in production.

“Solo Leveling: Beyond the System” picks up directly after the events of Season 2. Further plot details remain under wraps.

“Solo Leveling: Beyond the System” is animated by A-1 Pictures (“Sword Art Online”). the movie is
produced by Aniplex, Netmarble, D&C MEDIA, Kakao piccoma and Crunchyroll.

First released in 2016 as a web novel, “Solo Leveling” takes place “in a world where mysterious portals known as gates connect different dimensions to reality, and where humans with special abilities known as hunters exist. Sung Jinwoo, the lowest-ranking hunter and widely considered ‘humanity’s weakest weapon,’ suddenly gains the unique ability to level up. By passing countless tests, he goes from being the weakest to becoming the strongest,” according to an official description. The original webtoon series was created by Chugong, illustrated by DUBU (REDICE STUDIO), and adapted by h-goon (published by D&C MEDIA).

The anime series “Solo Leveling” debuted in January 2024 and released its second season a year later. Season 3 is expected to release in late 2026. Cast members include Taito Ban, Aleks Le, Rebecca Wang, Makoto Furukawa, SungWon Cho, Haruna Mikawa, Daisuke Hirakawa, and Ian Sinclair.

According to Billboard’s Book Hot 100 chart for Japan, the latest physical release of “Solo Leveling,” Vol. 25, was the number one best-selling book in the country during the week of June 22 to 28.
