Collingwood is working to part ways with premiership star Bobby Hill.
The 2023 Norm Smith medalist is under contract through the end of 2030 with a deal reportedly worth around $750,000 per season.
Industry sources have confirmed that talks between the Magpies and Hill’s management at Mac’s Sports Promotions are ongoing. The Magpies and Mac’s Sports Management have been contacted for comment.
Hill has not played a senior match since round 21 last year, largely due to personal issues.
He had an extended break over the summer, but was welcomed back earlier this season. He had been training on suburban fields with a coach before returning to the club.
The dynamic forward has played three VFL games but has not been a consistent presence at the club.
Coach Craig McRae has repeatedly said he was excited about Hill’s potential return, but there was always the caveat of the unknown.
McRae said in June that Hill was still working through his personal issues.
“To tell you the truth, fighting,” McRae responded when asked about Hill.
“He has a lot of things to do, let’s be very clear. He has a lot of things to do. It’s a work in progress, but it’s good to have him in the building.
“He’s a long way from playing football…but again, when he’s in our building, at least we have some opportunities to make him feel like he’s loved and appreciated.”
Hill and his partner Georgia Devlin welcomed their third child in May.
Seven reported on Monday that Hill was keen to move to the Brisbane Lions, Gold Coast or Port Adelaide.
Hill was originally selected by Greater Western Sydney with the 24th pick in 2018. He has played 102 senior matches in eight seasons.
